Removing emblem push-nuts
12 Aug 2015 14:28
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configuration
What is the best way to remove the tiny push-nuts from the emblem tabs without damaging the tabs and/or side cover? I've got a new side cover coming, and want to reuse the KZ1100 label from my old one.

When I removed mine I VERY carefully cut them off with a Dremel cutoff wheel. Those plastic pins they attach to are quite fragile, so whatever you decide to do be very careful. Ed

You'll have to pry them away with a tiny screw driver. If you bend them enough to get them off, you can flatten them and reuse them.

The problem I saw on mine was that the emblem's pins the push nuts are fastened to are very thin plastic and can easily break if you try to pry the nuts off (ouch - that sounds painful  ) I didn't have a problem finding replacement push nuts. Ed

Using a dremel, I scored a diagonal line across each push nut, then pryed them --- mine were rusty & brittle, so they crumbled while prying. If need be you can cut deeper.
To install. The 650-CSR emblems are metal, so I cut threads onto the pins & secured the emblems with nylon lock nuts from the hardware store & put a small dollop of silicone caulk on each pin. I got the idea in the KZR Archives from skyman.
