sprocket lock washer

Hey I bought this lock washer from Z1 for my GPz. It is replacing the type where you bend down one edge against the nut.
How is this installed? Concave side facing the sprocket or facing the nut? Don't want the front sprocket flying off. That would suck.

Looks like the older type, later GPz had a revised sprocket locking part: 92022-1351





There is another bits that goes with it, the part is discontinued now.

I'll leave it here as it is worth knowing about, it was revised for a reason due to failures of the earlier design. Mods feel free to delete this.

The washer is saucer shaped. Flat side (bottom of the saucer) against the sprocket with the lip facing out. That way you torque to spec, slip a screwdriver tip under the lip and tap with a hammer to bend the lip against the side of the nut..

at least that's the way my old one was and that's the way I did it with the new one. I used that exact same washer from Z1E

I'm surprised they have this listed as working for the KZ650B since I have one and asked about it....... they told me it won't work as the sprocket fits exactly flush with the splines (and does) so it will not hook on the shaft splines so it does no good when you bend it over the nut..... not sure on the GPZ.

I went with a sun sprocket with the standard retaining hole and went with the reg lock washer with the tab that fits in the hole and then bending it over on the nut.

I'm assuming the OPs GPz 750 is the same as mine. The splines come through both the sprocket and the lock waske.r The nut has a recess in the sprocket side that go around the splines. I probably have my old nut around somewhere and can take a pic.

If the nut is just plain flat with no recess on one side then its the flush type and requires a differnt way to lock. I just figured this out recently from a similar thread here

Yes it is a GPz750 with the stock nut. I installed it today and bent one of the lips over the flat of the nut.
