KZ550 LTD sissy bar interchangeability

A KG Enterprise sissy bar off a 1980 KZ550 LTD should fit on my '83 LTD, correct? I bought one and the shock mounts seem like they are a little too far apart. Although I'm probably just overthinking this

K&G luggage stuff is universal fit. On the luggage racks there is a flex adjustment for the width --- a couple of bolts & nuts at the rack have to be loosened first, adjust & retighten. The sissy bar may just flex without having to mess with any screws.???

I guess it's possible there's some sort of adjustment, perhaps hidden behind the backrest pad. ????
