KZ750 forks on KZ250

Hi all,

I'm in need of some new forks for my '85 KZ250 belt, but here in Australia, they are hard to come by. But some forks for a KZ750 with the front wheel and brakes has come up for sale locally. Is there any way to make these fit? This would be ideal, because they're cheap, local, and they're discs instead of drums.

I understand that the kz250 forks are 32mm and the kz750 forks are 36mm, but it does come with the triple clamp as well - would that fit on my current frame? Or is there another way?

What KZ250 & KZ750? Some 250s have 31 mm forks.
You'll need to compare the various components of the steering stems & frame heads.
The 750H stem is 8-7/8" long (225mm) & the frame head is 7-1/2" L (190mm).

To figure out if it will work, check to see if there's a tapered bearing kit that will mate the 750 steering stem to the 250. Also, compare the length of the steering stem or frame heads. I'd guess the 750 is longer, but a machine shop might be able to modify the steering stem to fit the 250.

It is very rare t o have a simple bolt on swap. Very, very rare. If you are lucky, it may require only different stem bearings. All balls has a pretty extensive conversion chart on its website. Feel free to check it out. In many cases, the steering stem will need to be swapped. In a few cases, serious machine work is needed. Gauges (clocks), hande bars, clearances when fully turned each direction, fork length and front wheel clearance at full compression are also to be considered.
