Bearing size help

I want to put some 78 kz750 wheels on my 78kz650c2. The problem is I can't find the correct rear bearings. I need a 52mm OD 17mm ID. All I can find with a52mm OD is a 20mmID. Z1 doesn't have them. Not sure where else to look. Has anyone successfully changed the wheels from a 750 to a 650?

Did you check with a local bearing shop? Go to google and type "bearings" and your city name.

A quick X x Y x Z mm dimesion search on ebay or similar will get most roller bearings, Alternatively use the bearing code.

The 400/500/550/700/750 and early 1000 used that same 7 spoke rear mag wheel, with differing spindle diameters. Kawasaki based their bearing sizes on on load but impotantly availability, hence the few imperial sizes you see on a metric bike.

I don't think this will be a problem, just forget about the application and search for the mm dimensions instead. even old school roller bearings are based on a 10 000 plus hours average life.

Thanks fellas. So I searched at least a dozen sites, no one has the size in need. Do they even make it? It a 17ID x 52OD x 14mm wide.

I would still call or visit a bearing shop at your location. Those guys are incredibly helpful. Great big books full of bearing sizes.

No they do not make that bearing, I tried years ago. I ended up making a custom spacer sleeve and slide into the ID of the larger one to bring it down to 17mm.

Ok, so I did find it but is says its an alternator bearing. I'm assuming this isn't gonna work?

Perhaps I could just take 3mm out of my swingarm?
