chrome controls for kz550 was created by fastdave
Does anybody know of a set of chrome handlebar controls that will work on a 1983 kz550 ltd? I was hoping for something that will swap right over. Thanks if you do.

I stripped the paint off and mirror polished the switch halves. Chrome plate on aluminium doesn't last like plating steel.

Alternatively, find some switchgear - anything for 7/8 bars and change the block connector. My z1000 is wearing modern triumph switchgear. The only other thing is if taken from a modern bike you may need to use a relay for the lights; the thin wires and switch contacts won't reliably handle the current of a headlight circuit.

Same with the levers and clamp, they are aluminium...what I said in the other thread about once you start detailing you can't stop. Some levers are anodised black but you can buy cheap pattern levers in unfinished aluminium.

I don't have a close up of the handlebar controls but all the aluminium was stripped an polished. Grips and pegs are chrome sundance custom. This one I did about 20years ago, not the way I'd do it now but that was what was in my mind's eye then.

Hey that looks good. I guess Im going to continue polishing like I have been. It just takes soooo long. View my build in the projects forum under 1983 kz550 ltd. I think ill be done by next spring .lol

It is nice to be able to polish what you have. it looks like you did a nice job on your project too.
