'Euro' Seat Straps... Why? was created by Tyrell Corp
Why do some of the Kz and others have seat straps? I've seen it referred to as for the euro z models but also on the Kz too.

Personally I always thought they look a bit goofy, certainly on GPz models - I'm puzzled as to their purpose. The side hinged and lift off seat variants have them so not about seat removal I guess.

Anyone?

If you go down to the newsagent to get a paper, theyre handy for tucking it into. Not so handy for a carton of milk though!

Those are intended for the passenger to hold onto so they won't fall of the bike. They work better than expected becasue if the passenger is holding onto the strap the rider is sitting on the passengers hands making it impossible for the passenger to let go even if they want to.   Ed

I think it's one of those design features from long ago that worked as a passenger grab handle back when bikes had about 25 hp...........and remained even though they don't work anymore..........it's a style thing maybe

Hehehehe and if they want to quicker they can shift too. Ball bearings provide smoother transition and they also provide lubricant to cut down on friction.
