Instrument Bracket Padding ??? was created by kzdcw
I'm at the point of cleaning up my gauges and wiring on my 77' Kz1000A. The instrument bracket has what appears as old dried up padding glued to it? Probably used to cushion or insulate the meters? What do you guys use for padding?

I got some that were made for the Z1 (see image below) and they worked on my KZ650. They have been discontinued, but you usually can find them on eBay or at some online NOS parts houses. Ed

Pete, I'll shoot them an email Mon. I would think if a guy wants to be creative, you could find some rubberized padding of some sort and cut and glue to fit?

Also, either one of you know if the ( 4 ) rubber light bulb sockets for the instruments are available individually. Mine are pretty bad shape and gone. Don't know how well they would hold in the instruments? They were a bugger to get out and unfortunately crumbled in removal. To bad I couldn't use some sort of rubberized sealant to mod and bond to them?

The Instrument harness works just fine, just have taken everything apart to clean and inspect.

Installed a charged battery in my bike and found that most of all the electrical work. Was happy about that. Only the rear brake switch had a short that it was keeping the rear stop on. Just unplugged it and that was the culprit. It was broken prior at the mount, wear trying to repair it. Cheaper to purchase a new one.

Anyone know if Brian at KZ10006 is around? Been trying to get a hold of him for parts. Hope he's okay.

Ed. Partzilla Obsolete item. Ebay has all 4 Part #'s. Asking "Way" to much money for them. Time to go down to the local Hobby Craft store and be creative.

I have cut pieces from a mud flap for a pickup truck for something similar. .... of cut from a rubber sanding block when I needed something thicker.

JR Not a bad idea. I was looking at a black sponge paint brush. May take a run down to Home Depot tomorrow as well.

What do you guys think about this? 1/8" thick. Anyone have an idea how thick the stock dampers were?

Use it... if it still wobbles, add another layer. Let us know how it works and how many layers you need...
