Z1 900 -76 Caliper and fork leg confusion
18 Oct 2014 13:01
Hi!
Got a Z1 900 -76 A4 "in a box". It's been dissasembled long time ago and now am I tryin to get it together. It's goin pretty well but now I hit something weird when working with the front break system (twin discs).
The calipers doesn't fit the bolt holes on the lower fork leg. The center distance between the holes on the caliper is 74 mm but it's only 54 mm between the bolt holes on the fork leg
I guess either the fork leg or the caliper break kit is from another bike model. Could someone give a hint on what is actually right for this model. Also advise on easiest way forward - replace break kit or fork legs woud be great.
Cheers

The forks are from a different model. The Z900-A4 forks did not have reflectors. Ed

76 is a kz900, or z900, 75 is the last year of the z1; and parts are different, Im guessing later ltd brakes.
And 73-75 z1 forks, either gotta buy the z1 dual disc setup ($$$$) or the kz900/1000 stuff (cheap and correct). You also have a kz900/1000 fromt wheel and rotors

Calipers appear to be 76-77 900/1000 style along with wheel and axle, calipers and rotors might be from a 76 900 ltd also since they aren't drilled and still have steel/rubber lines.
Forks are z1 or early h series 2 smoker parts.

Looks like 73-75 fork bottoms, & they are not 76 LTD rotors, 76 LTD rotors were drilled

I believe any KZ 1000 forks from 76-80 should be the same
