77 kz1000 speedometer drive

My speedometer stopped working on my last ride. I pulled the cable out of the front wheel drive and if I spin it by hand the gauge works. I jacked up the front wheel and put the cable back in the speedometer drive and it makes a clicking noise when I turn the wheel by hand. Also the wheel wants to stop turning at certain times. I pulled off the drive assembly and took it apart. I did not see any bits of metal in the grease and the ring gear looks a little worn but is not missing any teeth. The pinion gear looks to be held in with a pin but it is in a blind hole so I can't drive it out. Does anyone know if these are repairable and if so do they still make these parts?

Are you sure the cable isn't broken inside the housing?

I pulled the whole cable out of the housing and it is not broken. I think the problem is with the pinion gear but I can't get it out to look at it. I just checked on Kawasaki.com and the pinion gear is not available anymore

I have one from a 77 KZ 1000a1 it is my old front end. PM me if you need it.
