I have the manual in pdf that goes up to 81. But the amount doesnt sound correct. Anyone have a manual that covers the 82 650 h2 that can look up the capacity in each leg for me please?

From the 81-82 KZ650 manual. 1982 KZ650-H2 -- SAE10W Fork Oil:
Fork oil change -- add about 260cc.
After disassembly & completely dry = 280 +/- 4 cc.
Fork oil level measurement = 433 +/- 4mm
(from top of inner fork tube -- fork tube fully extended -- main spring removed).

The manual specifies 10W, but you might want to use something a little heavier.
I use Belray 15W Fork Oil.

What do people use to measure the volume of fork oil being added.? Does everyone have some kind of graduated measuring cylinder?

I use a plastic baby bottle which has cc (ml) measurements.

Here's what I use (syringe). They also can be used to siphon out old brake fluid, add new brake fluid, fork oil, etc. They're very accurate and only cost about $1.50 - $2 each on eBay if you look for a deal on 5 of them.

Regarding fork oil - remember, the measurement from the top of the tubes is more important than the volume of fork oil added as there may be some residual oil in the internals. Be sure to measure fork oil again after riding some miles in case some air bubbles have been forced out of fork cylinder. Ed

Baby bottles are accurate. I think mine is an Evenflo. :)
But I think the finer graduations of the syringe might be preferable.

Even Flow

Thanks guys. Good information. I have a couple of 60ml syringes from a local surplus store but hadn't thought of baby bottles :) . I need to service the forks before Winter. I should check out the shelves at the local drug store :)
Thanks
