Also what would cause JUST the EDGE of the rotor to heat up like that? I used the front brakes on my short ride and they were cool to the touch.

Chances are that the pads are still in contact with the rotor. It wouldn't need to be much to create enough friction to heat it up.

So... If I have zero compression on my rear brakes, it's a master cylinder issue right?? Solution is a rebuild kit?? What about the calipers?? Rebuild kit?? Maybe it's both causing problems, maybe it's just one of them??

It could be air in the brake line. Ed

Ok. I have my real wheel off and calipers and m/cyl in hand(brought them with me so I could work from home!). What is the breakdown on these? What parts should I look for that would cause no pressure from m/cyl?

I have the master cyl apart and dont see anything that would cause a problem. Could the spring be wore out? Also the lever/shaft that gose inside to push the piston came out on its own when I removed the m/cyl from the bike. Is that normal?

I have the main bolts holding the calipers to the bracket out(after MUCH fighting) now there are rubber bushings inside. How do I remove the bracket without messing them up? I can't even get to the cals yet.

If the "rubber bushings" refer to dust shields part number 43052-005, they may be worn out and need to be replaced.

The area where the caliper floats along the bolts is supposed to stay clean.

Good Fortune! :)
