Seat Catch Bracket?
20 May 2014 15:17 - 20 May 2014 16:13
Picked up a 77' KZ1000 Standard non-running but complete. Going thru a list what I need to replace. The seat did not have a seat catch bracket and hook to catch the seat lock. Looking at the seat pan from underneath, there is only 1 threaded hole to mount the seat catch bracket to instead of 2? The hinges on the seat pan line up the seat frame, but I thought the seat catch brackets at least on the sites I have seen, have 2 mounting holes.

I believe the 73-75 Z1 seats have a single post for the seat latch. The '76 and later Kz's had a plate with a loop mounted via two bolts.

If you need the standard "loop" style bracket, let me know. I have one laying around I will send you can have.

Cory, I didn't expect that but greatly appreciate the offer! The seat lock is there ( no key ) but no seat prop rod. About 2 weeks ago, a co-worker offered to sell me his 77' KZ1000 for $100.00. He had it stored in his garage for the last 8 years and never did anything with it. Bought it from a prior owner that had it in storage for over a decade. Looked at the non-running bike an was pretty much complete. Had been dropped on it's right side so the rear brake pedal was bent into the case cover, the stock muffler dented, the tach a little dented, points cover missing, and points case damaged. But pretty much there. Couldn't pass up on the deal. Appears to have good compression but haven't measured it yet. Title clear but don't know when if it ever put into non-operation? Title says 1988. In California, so don't know yet how to go about re-registering the title without occurring back fees.
