Sounds like you may have the collars/spaces installed wrong. I would pull the wheel and check the bearings by turning them with my finger. If they feel really smooth, I would mount the wheel again paying very close attention to how the collars/spacers are installed. If they are wrong the wheel will be hard to turn and the bike must not be ridden that way. Ed

I checked the collar and the spacer and everything look good. But when i spin the wheel by hand it spins a little and comes to a complete stop and sometimes the chain feels loose or tight when you turn the wheel.my question is was i suppose to change the rear sprocket with a different one? Im using the original one from my smaller rim and tire.

Hi i put a 4.25x18 aluminum wheel and tire on my 76 kz900 with a 130/80/18 csh1 max tire from a 75 z1900 but my problem is when i spin the wheel by hand it comes to a complete stop right away.sometimes the chain feels loose and tight when you spin the wheel.checked the collar and the spacer and looks good.my question is was i supposed to change the rear sprocket or both sprockets front and back.bearings on the wheel spin fine. need ideas.thanks.

If the space shown is not installed, when axle is tightened it will bind the bearings and not spin freely.

Get the dimensions from someone that has one, then get a friend with a lathe to make you one.

that part is internally installed between the bearings, did you remove a bearing to check for it?

It's a lot easier to just stick your finger through the center of the bearing and feel for it.

Are sprockets aligned?

Is chain kinked?

Is chain properly lubed?

With chain removed, does the problem persist?

Good Fortune! :)
