Brake shoe brands

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHi all,

My KZ250 has drums front and back, and before riding I think it's prudent to change the shoes, as I don't know how old/worn they are.

Is there any specific brand that I should be looking out for? I would rather spend a bit more $ on decent shoes that give me some better braking, but I can't find any reference on the performance of specific brands like there is for drums.

Edit: I've also seen grooved shoes like these. Do they make any/much difference?

Thanks,
1981 KZ750 LTD

I don't know anything about those grooved eebbaayy shoes. Z1Enterprises.com sells EBC, but others have reported problems in regards to fitment &/or squeal. I installed Vesrah brake shoes on my 81 650 a few years back w no issues since. Vesrah is a Japanese company & I assume their parts are made in Japan... their prices seem to be better than EBC. ...
Vesrah -->> 81 KZ250D -->> FR = VB-309 & Rr = VB-409
(the dimensions are listed as well, which might be handy to know for future reference)

81 KZ650-H1 -->> FR = VD-420/2JL Metal or Resin SD-420/2 & Rr Resin = VB-412
(Shoe Dia. = 179 & Width = 40mm)[/size]
