I need to stick with a 630 chain and would like to know what is the biggest front sprocket that fits without the chain hitting a stock cover.

more like how big you can go before it clips the clutch pusher rod.......biggest 630, 16 tooth as I think a 17 will clip the rod and cover.

Hey Ralph
If you remember Ted with the 78 Z1R who we talked about at the Bike show, He ran a 16 tooth front sprocket the whole time he had it turbocharged. Might be tight , but it will work.
Thats also what I ran on my LTD With a stock 33 tooth rear

17 tooth is the largest you can go and although close the chain does not hit the push rod .
I have run a 17t on my Z1R for over 20 yrs with no issues.

Thanks for the info Zed, I will do some calculations before ordering sprockets since this gives me more options. I ordered a shorter rear tire to increase the front rake a little to improve high speed handling so I need to gear it taller. I still need to figure out the rpm it will pull at 6psi boost with good valve springs. Traction on the salt throws accurate calculations out the window!
