I am planning to put a 82 KZ1100 front end on my 78 KZ1000 any suggesions on any bearings I should use?
Its going on this bike..
78 KZ1000 work in progress in Hacienda Heights California and a 82 KZ1100 Spectra And a 1992 ZX11.

Could'a swore I seen that one in Mad Max... :woohoo:

If you have a choice, go for tapered roller over ball-type bearings. Last longer, distribute load better, feel smoother. Also, come up with some type of weather-seal for the open end of the lower bearing face. I used a trimmed rubber diaphram that fit over the end of the bearing cap between the neck and the triple tree. Keeps all of the road gunk out and lube grease in....

keep in mind that the KZ1100 has a leading axle and will change the way the bike handles.

my 82 had air ride forks . theyre a pain and i think theyre a few inches longer than the 900/1000

Why not go with a upside down fork set up? Alot cooler and better handling.

1 what do you mean upside down forks and 2 will I be better off with the stock forks other than the 1100 air forks ? and this is the front end I was going to use.

I was wandering can I use the duel disk set up from the 1100 on the 1000 ?

thats the same spectre front end i have in the garage. if you use the trees and all youll already have the duals. im not sure if the bolt spacing for the caliper mount will fit but i can measure it in the morning. if the seals are good in the forks and they dont leak air then try them.i dont know if you can slide the forks up to get the ride right with the crossover air line though

these are what upside down forks look like theyre on most of the sport bikes and sell on ebay all the time for less than 500

How much difrents dose it make from a single to a duel disk setup the other front end I have is a mag rim and I like the spoke look better or can I put duel disk on a
the rim I have or will I have to get a difrent front end anywhay if I want a duel setup.

you can put duals on the spokes if you remove the cover on the non brake side of the wheel you will find the disk mounting holes
