swingarm stretch

want to stretch my factory swingarm ( 1980 kz1000 ) 3 or 4 in. does it need to be reinforced anywhere ? bracing ? any advice appreciated.

What type of driving? Drag racing, street racing or just cruising for looks?
I used an extra swingarm, added 3 1/2". cut the straight pieces, cut some plugs on the lathe about 1" made a flat plate for the top at front .080. Nice tig weld job. This one is just for looks for a street hot rod. I built it with stock dimensions at the back. I offset 3/8 for a 150 tire. I had to use an aluminum sprocket. I countersunk flat heads in for clearence. I did this 10 years ago. Some day I'll get back to it?
These are old pictures. Nice black single stage urethane paint. Still shines like it just came out of the gun.
I would not launch it at the track with a 5 1/2" hot slick though.
