Swap from spokes to mags on 78 KZ750B twin

I want to get rid of the wire/spoke rims on my 78 KZ750B3 twin. I've heard this can be done. Any suggestions? Looks like the rear wheel is 18" and front is 19"? Not sure on sizes. I'm used to car tires. Mine say 18H and 19H. Also, right now I have tubeless tires. Can these be used on mags or do I need to use different tires?

Stock size was 3.25-19 front and 4.00-18 rear. They were English sizes, now most use metric equivalents because English are not available. Tubeless tires should work on mag wheels if they are designed for them. If not, you can put a tube in them.

You currently have tubeless tires on your spoked rims, but you have tubes in them; otherwise they would be flat. You will need to do the same with mags. The only exception is if the rims have the word "TUBELESS" cast into them. If they don't they will require tubes in the tires just like the spoked rims require. Pretty much all tires today are marked tubeless, but that does not mean you do not need tubes in them when they are mounted to old Kawasaki rims. Be SURE to install NEW tubes when you mount the tires. Ed

Thanks for this info guys. One more thing, will the KZ1000 mags swap right over or will I need to do some modifications?

You may find the axle diameter and the width of the wheel at the axle is different. Also, the spacing of the sprocket from the center of the wheel may differ and the spacing and diameter of the brake rotors may differ. Measure everything very carefully when you get the wheel so you will know if you need to change bearings to accommodate your axle, change rotors, and/or have spacers made. Ed
