How to take the gas tank off a 80 kz1000 ltd

Hey guys, just trying to figure out how to take the tank off this kz1000 ltd, just need to know how?

Pull tank to the rear a couple of inches then lift the front of the tank.

youre gonna need a hacksaw,a grinder and a hammer :silly:

Well, just pull it back as far as it will go and lift the front. I got a friend that can't take a tank off a ltd. I have showed him 50 times at least. :lol:

Take off left side cover or petcock will scratch the crap out of the front of side cover.

If you lift the back of the tank to high, the front top of gas tank can hit steering neck and possibly chip the paint on front seam of gas tank.

Just pay attention to both ends.

You may also want to
remove the seat
disconnect the fuel line, vacuum line and fuel level wires
before tying to yank off the tank.
:whistle:

there is also a rubber strap that needs to be pulled off before the rear of the tank can be lifted off the frame

If it's a nice tank, you might want to drain it first.... fuel slosh can make the tank unwieldy. And you could put a thick towel in front of the tank to avoid contacting the triple tree n stuff as you lift it off the bike..
