highway pegs, forward controls for 81 kz 1000

I am supposed to get my bike back today,81 kz 1000.problem is i cant bend my right knee 90 degrees and ride more than 30 minutes secondary to bike wreck 14 yrs ago.I have always had forward controls, rode v twins, and now with the wide engine I dont see where i could mount anything.I know some of these bikes had case savers or crash bars, but I dont have those.Do highway bars bolt onto the engine mounting bolts up high or where? I do not remember any forward low front of the engine transverse long engine bolts where I could mount forward controls, and am not sure i could use them anyway since my right eg would probably hit the hot engine cases.TC choppers makes universal controls and linkages that would adapt with some fabrication but since I have not seen my bike in 6 months do not remember any mounting points on it.Input appreciated.

The highway pegs i have seen on these bikes are the universal type, a long bar with the pegs on the ends, basically u-bolted to the frame

If you have a set of case guards, you should also find lots of sources for pegs that mount to those. I'm not familiar with a set of forward controls for that setup, though. Doesn't mean there aren't some out there - I'm just not familiar with them.
