Hey guys! my name is Mark and I own a '79 kz650. I'm having a problem with my front brake caliper. the caliper threads are bald so my banjo bolt just slides in and out. Can you guys help a fellow KZ lover out?

I'd hit ebay or the Parts Wanted forum and look for a new caliper.

You could replace the threads with a helicoil or timesert insert.

Ive use the helicoil kits. They come with the tap and install tool, are easy to install, and worked well. As long as there is enough material to drill a larger hole, I've heard people claim the helicoiled threads are stronger than the original aluminum threads.

I would replace the caliper. You don't want to take the risk of any potential brake line leak or you could get hurt. Ed

hey dohc! yeah I got some helicoils the other day but I still need to get the drill size. I now the banjo bolt is 7mm so would I have to drill out the new hole to 8mm? that's the size of helicoils I got.
