79' Kz1000 MkII

Hi All, New to this site, finishing up on my 79' MkII, having trouble identifying which cable stays are correct for this model,(upper triple clamp on left for clutch, upper triple clamp on rt. for brake hose and throttle, ALSO, right and left rear front fender for front brake hoses. Unable to get a good look on various parts house sites via schematic as they are unavailable for this particular model or don't go back to 79' any longer. Any info. would be much appreciated, Thanx in advance. Mike

I looked up the parts anyway. the cable stays which bolt onto the top triple are on the following models. lots of choices.

there is also a clamp low on the frame for the clutch cable.

Hello and welcome. There are many guys here with Mark II knowledge and nice motorcycles on this blog site with pictures.
Just float this question out a couple of times and you will soon get a response. This site moves along quick, with many different questions and posts. Yours can get burried in half a days time.
Also evryone likes to see pictures of your project.
Good luck, and you can search ebay for sold bikes, lots of pictures in the ad's. Mark II's are a hot commodity, bringing big bucks from the foriegn importers & exporters.

A co-worker said "Hey, you like Kawasaki's, come over and get this one out of my garage" That's how this adventure started, missing many parts, exhaust, left side cover,mirrors,headlamp,turn signals,engine covers, air box,carbs,and a gazillion small parts. Slowly as $ allows, she is taking shape. Not restored per say, more like un-restored/un-molested, painting small parts with factory color,re-chroming and polishing as I go. Hope to ride it soon.

Looks really nice! You may be missing a few bits, but it looks like all the stuff that would be nearly impossible to find (original paint, exhaust system, etc.) is still there. Congrats on getting a great bike! Ed

Looking Good!!!!! A blue MK II, what a find. Plus its got a pair of S&W Street Stroker shocks. And Superbike bars. Same things I used to run on my MK II's demos back than.

Our old Kawasaki Dealer Rep told us that they only brought in like 3,300 MK II's in '79. 2,200 red ones and 1,100 blue ones. Some little Japanese guy will give you a small fortune for that bike!!!

Thanks for the import #'s info, that's good information, that you got it first hand makes it all the more interesting. A collector friend of mine said He had heard that Kawasaki had a hard time selling the MkII? I plan to keep it here in the good oi' USA. I keep an eye on the Japanese resto-mod work being done overseas, many of the big fours have been picked up here, crammed into sea containers and shipped back.
Speaking of which,would sure like to see a photo of the H2 you have listed, I've become a fan of the triples and really enjoy seeing cafe'd versions. I am building a 72' H2 as well, It has an 83' Gpz 750 single shock swing arm installed, plan to use a set of period correct Lester mags that I found at (of all places) a garage sale! Whacky but true!
