Rear Brake Q.
21 Nov 2013 19:52
Hello Guys, I've been lurking here for a while. i'm back from overseas and I'm ready to start my build. I have a 1980 KZ750. I have it all stripped down. On hand I have a 2000 ZRX 1100 swingarm. It seems it will fix with just a bit of trimming on both sides of the pivot point. My question is, will the rear brake caliper, mount, caliper arm off of a ZRX 1200 fit on the 1100 swingarm? Are they the same? I'm having a hard time sourcing the 1100 brake. Thank you very much.

I'm not intimately familiar with this setup, but IN GENERAL, the caliper goes with the mount that fits with the wheel and axle, so whatever caliper you're using needs to be mated to that. Once you've got the caliper, you are probably going to have to fabricate (or at least modify) the caliper arm to match up. The thing that I'd be more concerned about is the chain alignment, since you are likely to have to make custom spacers for the wider (IIRC) ZRX swingarms (out at the business end).
Don't get me wrong - you can certainly marry up dissimilar parts for each of these, but every one is going to present its own specific spacing challenges. There is at least one thread on here that lists all of the pertinent information for the swing-arm you are looking for, and many people have made the changes you are specifically looking at.

Thanks for the reply.. the swingarm will fit with minimal trimming. I was jsut wondering about using the caliper mount and and arm for at ZRX 1220 on a ZRX 1100 swingarm. Thanks again.

I plan on getting all ZRX... but as I said before The ZRX 1100 brakes are a little hard to find, but the ZRX 1200 are easier to get. I already have the ZRX 1100 swingarm. Thanks
