Hello all:

It's time for sprocket and chain replacement on the old girl (77,1000 A1, just turned over 30k) and was looking for some input before I purchase.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is all good news from me going to 530

You need all new hardware..... 2 sprockets and chain. Don't use used parts with new parts.

Cheaper, lighter and color choices.

Only favor 630 for a built street fighter or turbo.

Get a quality o-ring chain.

I run 630 but mainly because I have so many sprockets and chains for this size chain. 430 is the way to go though bor all the reasons mentioned above. Just a note though...current pro-street bikes run 530 chain so I'm sure a 530 chain will probably be strong enough for anything we run with on our Z's. They are running low 7's at about 200 mph and make around 600 hp so a 530 is probably good. I know they make them with about 10000 tensile strength which is waht a top 630 chain rates at except for a promod chain which is so heavy you wouldn't want to run it on a streetbike anyway.

The current generation of 530 chains are much stronger than the original 630s ever were. Much more choices as well. Just remember to purchase a high quality o-ring, or even better x-ring, and you will get tens of thousands of miles out of them if you maintain them correctly.

The folks at Z1-Enterprises were able to get me set up with a brand new 520 chain in spite of the 'Frankenbike' nature of my wheels, frame, and engine being off different models. I'm a fan.
