OK, site it has been years since I've given update on this project. I know a lot of people stop projects on here and then disappear into the wind, and I didnt want to be like that myself

The bike is essentially complete now. The only thing I'm waiting on are front brake lines I had to have custom-made. I ordered some from Galfer and they sent me two of the custom rear lines (only ordered one!) and not the front lines, so as of now I only have rear brakes.

I tried shaving down the seats by myself to give it a bit more of a sleek look but it still has that ghastly LTD shape to it. There is a company that makes the café seat for it, but they charge $210 for the seat and a ridiculous $90 for shipping. I know I should just pay for it, but I can't bring myself to pay for that kind of shipping. Maybe eventually I'll suck it up and do it but it pisses me off.

I was very apprehensive when I went to start this bike, again for the first time in years, because I had put in stage III Dynojet kit, after completely disassembling the carbs. I also completely disassembled the head, and removed as much carbon as I could from the combustion chamber and also very reground the valve seats, ever so slightly. I did a mold porting/polishing of both the intake and exhaust ports, and I installed a set of Web street cams that I found on eBay that someone had bought for the project but realize they didn't work on a turbo set up.

But my fears were set aside when it fired instantly the first time I tried to start it. I just had to balance the carbs again with my Mercury Morion Pro manometer and even the suggested mixture setting by Dynojet was spot on after I checked each of the cylinders with my Gunson colortune kit.

I even got the knockoff Koso instrument cluster to work, although the tachometer portion of it is not working properly (not accurate). everything else including the speed and even the fuel tank levelis fine. I think I just got a bad one, so I might roll the dice on buying another one that I have my eye on.

Pics aren't uploading (too big) so you can see them here on my tumblr

Ha! I still have it, but the carb boots are the wrong size; they're too small in ID to slip over the BS34 intakes which are 55mm I'm trying to work out whether I could use Gixxer 1000 air box boots for it. As they look like they might. I asked a seller on eBay with those boots to measure them for me, but still waiting on a reply. For now it runs perfect on the stock air box with a K&N in it.
It would look awesome with the Henry Abe air cleaner on it though, if I can find boots that will fit both the carbs and the box. The KZ1000 boots are too long and have funky dog legs to them.

I was recently searching for (and found) an Abe breadbox for my upcoming build, ( I LOVE the look) however I opted to pass on it for now as I figured the same fitment issue with my RS38 Mikunis. However with a bit of machining and ingenuity, it wouldn't be all that hard to fabricate them to match up successfully with my carbs. I still may very well go with that idea at a later date. I had one years ago on another 900 and lined the inside of the boxes end openings with a thin rubber so to eliminate the effects that crosswinds can cause with open air intakes such as breadboxes and pods. Still had more than enough air flow to the carbs and it ran great for years without any low rpm hesitation/bog issues. Much of the tuning difficulties with pods and such, is too much unrestricted free air flow to the carbs. The air flow of these types of air boxes can easily be customized and varied at one's preference and tuning needs (especially the 'crosswind effect') using the rubber strip lining method, and will not alter their appearance at all. ..........................................Mike

These are the guys. They make the seats in Vietnam and ship them here, so a large portion of the cost is the shipping. I'm looking forward to receiving mine soon
