OEM Rear Brake Pads for KZ1000J3 was created by Vintage3
Hi,
Can anyone clarify for me which part # is correct for OEM Kawi rear brake pads on a 1983 KZ1000J3? Two #'s are listed on Partzilla:
1. 43082-1025 and
2. 43082-1022.

In your response if you can add clarity as to why there are two numbers this would be appreciated.

Also what do you think of EBC pads?.

These will be going on a brake assembly with a NOS disk/rotor which I just purchased.

Thanks.

I have no idea what the difference is, but it looks like they could be different compositions. The 1022 fits a lot of older bikes, and all of the police bikes, but is also listed as an "obsolete" part and isn't readily available.

The 1025 is available, and there are something like 125 different bikes that it fits.

EBC is a manufacturer of these parts for lots of companies. It wouldn't surprise me if they made the originals with Kawasaki markings....

Part number 43082-1022 was the correct part, but according to Kawasaki.com it has been superseded by part number 43082-0041 - which is still available from Kawasaki (see image below). Partzilla lists them at $49.64 (see link). EBC pads work, but on my bike they squealed badly until I cut a chamfer on the edges. I would stick with the Kawasaki pads. Ed
