530 Chain conversion COMPLETE!

I Got my new chain and sprockets today for my '81 LTD 750. WOW, What a difference from the old chain. When I got the old 630 chain and sprockets off, I could really see how bad they were worn. But a few hours, some elbow grease and more than a couple Mosquito bites, and I now have a brand new chain and sprockets installed! Thank's Z1 Enterprises for making it so simple and for the fast shipping! I will post pics tomorrow.

Same diameters, but more teeth on a 530 sprocket.

Z1E provides conversion info, such as comparative sizes of 530 sprockets that match the stock 630 sprockets.

Good Fortune! :)

This is also a good time to update the ratio if you wish. The ratio is calculated by dividing the number of teeth on the front sprocket into the number of teeth on the rear sprocket.
For example, if you have 14 teeth on the front sprocket and 40 teeth on the rear sprocket, your ratio would be 40/14 = 2.86.
The larger the number the better the acceleration, but at highway speeds the engine revs would be higher. The lower the number, the lower the engine revs at highway speeds, and (usually) slightly better fuel economy. But at the expense of acceleration.

I just did this to my bike about 2 weeks ago. I went with a 16/38 combo. I just called up Z1 enterprises and they told me every thing I needed to order. Just call them up they are super help full.

UPDATE:

New chain and sprockets still working great after 2 weeks!
But I was stranded on the road today when the countershaft nut mysteriously disappeared. LUCKILY for me and my wife, a REALLY nice guy stopped and gave us a ride to an ACE hardware that VERY luckily, had a 20X1mm nut. I got all the spacers from Z1 enterprises when I did the conversion, but somehow it came loose. NOW I have a wave washer locking the nut to the shaft and sprocket. HOORAY for nice people in the world!!

Glad it worked out! Here was the response for my project:

To convert maintaining the stock gear ratio.

Use a 530 series 18t front, 40t rear and 110 links of 530 chain. (Linked below.)

Be sure to grab a couple of the SS-3 spacers just in case you need to shim out the front sprocket. Also a clip-style master link for the chain if you don’t want to use the included rivet-style link.

be careful on that front sprocket size, I went with a 16 and it was a pretty tight fit in the housing.
