Rims, sizes and interchangeable?
13 Aug 2013 19:35 - 13 Aug 2013 19:36
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHi
I have a Z650-D2 on which I need a new rear rim, because the old one is in really bad condition.
I currently have the standard 16x3.0 (?) rim. I really want a bigger rim on the rear wheel (I'm thinking about the same size as the front wheel, which is 19"). So I've found this one which is 18x2.15 and is from a Z650-B
Will this work? And are the parts interchangeable, e.g. can I use the same disc brake and the same wheel assembly parts?

That wheel definitely is NOT from a Z650-B. All the Z650-B bikes came with wire wheels, not alloy. Ed

If I knew that I would buy a lottery ticket! Without knowing what year & model motorcycle a wheel originally came on how can anyone know what it will fit and what parts are compatible with it? Ed

The rear wheel of a C2 was 18" and alloy, right? If yes, how would that fit?'

Yes, all the KZ650-C years had 18" alloy rear wheels. According to Kawasaki.com a number of the parts between the D2 and C models are the same, but there are some differences too. They show different part numbers for some parts including the swing arm, hub sleeve, hub bearing collar, 2 wheel bearings, etc. So you might need to do a bit of fiddling to make the wheel and rear brake work properly.
