new shocks for 81´ KZ 1100
26 Jul 2013 19:34
I´m thinking of installing 1998 zrx 1100 shocks to my KZ 1100. The zrx shocks are 20mm longer (KZ shocks are 340mm eye to eya and zrx, as far as I know are 360mm). How will this change the geometry/handling of the bike?

20mm is just over 3/4" of an inch, so I don't see much change to the handling, other than having greater ground clearance for possibly larger rear tire.

Trojan:
I believe raising the rear of the bike decreases the rake and trail of the front forks and front wheel, respectively. That increases the steering quickness and decreases straight-line stability.
With the change you're proposing for the rear it's hard to tell whether you'd notice the related/inherent changes in the front geometry.
