Brake hose alternatives

Hi all,

I have a 81 kz1100 and the original brake like are starting to show their age.

I noticed replacement brake lines are a little pricy

Are there any alternatives? what about stainless braided? anybody know a good source.

Also, what would be the correct length, how do you measure, and is 10mm banjo the correct size?

Thanks again.

You may want to contact the folks in the links below and ask about measuring for new lines. Also, be sure to get plastic coated lines or the stainless steel braiding will saw through anything it comes in contact with. One other tip, take careful notice of the angle of the banjo fittings on your original lines and be sure to order the same angles. I've seen installations that look really bad because the banjo fittings are straight where they should be angled. Ed

You can also take your lines off and take them to a hydraulic hose shop and they can probably make them. The one I checked with locally said he could do it, but he was too expensive for me.

These guys made some SS hoses for my H1 while I waited. I had to go custom due to lower bars. They can also make the standard rubber hoses. Located in GA pretty close to the Airport. It's a great old school auto parts store.

Z1Enterprises carry them as well for what seems to be a good price.

Z1E Stainless Steel brake lines

They come in black or clear coated SS lines.
