I need a straight answer...
One of the motorcycle mechanics that I've used for service insists that I keep maximim air pressure in my tires, but the service manual and label on the bike show otherwise.

The Dunlop E3 have 40lbs. Max air pressure molded in the sidewall, which seems to make a stiff ride. :pinch:

Get a new mechanic! Maximum pressure is too high and, as you noticed, will result in a very stiff ride (not to mention it will not provide optimum traction). You can use the pressure recommended for your particular bike model, and normally that works fine. On my KZ650-C1 I use 28 psi front 36 psi rear. Ed

...I have to agree with Ed, get rid of the guy.

...Anyone who thinks he knows more than the manufacturer, is a bonehead. :P

...Unless, the bonehead weighs 450 pounds. :S

...In that case, he would be correct and we would have to apologize.

...Not all bikes and people weight the same. That's why the manufacturer gives you a range of air pressures. It's up to you to find out what pressures are best suited for you and your bike. Experiment, try the middle of the road. Then go up some, then down some. You'll be surprised how quickly you find out what the correct air pressure is for you and your ride. Just remember to check and adjust the air in your tires when they're cold. Happy motoring!
