surly it isn't as simple as buying a new caliper and rotor and flipping the caliper.

can anyone see any problems with this that i am not thinking of?(yes you need to flip the bracket in the caliper as well and that will leave the bleeder facing the back of the bike)

and if i use the stock reservoir(and piston), i guess i would expect to move the lever twice as far to get the same braking power?

seems i am at the limit of the calipers gripping force as when i crank down on it the caliper spreads.

i have decent lever pressure, a little squishy, but i think that is mostly due to the caliper expanding.

has anyone had any experience with the ebc pro light brake rotor?

According to Kawasaki.com the KZ650-F1 uses the same left caliper as several other models. One of the other models is the KZ1000-D3. That bike has dual front disk brakes. The right side caliper for the KZ1000-D3 is the same as is used on the list of bikes below. I would think if you could get a right side caliper from one of those models it would work better than flipping a left side caliper because the bleeder would be oriented correctly. You will need a different master cylinder, the bore for dual disk is different. Ed

I'm not implying that you shouldn't get a dual disk front brake, but the single disk brake should have plenty of stopping power. I would refurbish the front brake & install new ss braided lines. If the disk is worn beyond or near the service limit, you can probably find a good used one on ebbaayy.

If you do get a dual disk & your current mc isn't leaking or anything, you could try it to see how it functions w the new setup. Then get a replacement mc if needed. usa-motorcycle-inc on ebbaayy sells various new aftermarket units.

Disks. Note that in some cases, dual disks are smaller in diameter than single disks, so the forks are different to allow the dual disk calipers sit lower on the fork legs.

Rear Drum Brake. If you don't know the age of the rear brake shoes, replace them. The adhesive that binds the linings to the shoes can fail over time - a lining can come off and get jammed between the shoe & drum, locking the rear wheel. It happened to me, so it does happen.

PS: I don't know what you mean when you say the caliper spreads.

I have the master cylinder, lines, and both calipers off of my C3 that I am not using. You can purchase them, just make an offer and I'll tack on cost of shipping. I can't speak to their condition but can send you pictures.
