Please let me know if you remember! I don't think my footpeg mounts are modified, there are just some other pegs on there.

It is a piece of cake. Hook goes under brake pedal and other end of spring goes on top of the frame part that the pedal bracket is welded to.One pic shows it on partially but I did not want to scrarch the paint.

KZZ1king, here is my problem. I have two different springs, since I wasn't sure which one I needed I got them both. One looks like yours in the pic, however is smaller, I could not get it over the pedal, so that's why I tried with the other one (didn't work since it's totally different)

I just went back to the garage and used brutal force (yes the vise and some large channel locks) and forced the small one on there. It now looks like in your pic and holds the brake pedal up, but I am sure I don't have the right spring/brake pedal combination. Anyway should do it for now and at some point I will figure this out correctly! If possible, could you send me a pic of your entire brake pedal? Thansks again to all for the input!

Do a search on ebay for rear brake pedal using different years and you will see the differences. There are also new springs on there so you can look at that too. I think that will help you pinpoint your problem. I use ebay alot to get another look at a part I wanna try using.

It looks like I was misled by one seller who had listed the spring for the 79 model year (which is mine) although it wasn't. I then bought the brake pedal that wouyld match the spring....anyway it works for now and at some point I will get the correct pedal. Thanks to all for your input.
