79 kz1000ltd, i replaced ft tire with same size as stock. speeedo reading 5 mph to fast! i dont know if this was a problem with old stock tier as it was worn out and i never rode the bike with it on. any suggestions?

5mph is about as accurate as you will be able to get.
Mine is approx 10mph with stock wheels/tires/new speedodrive

I have a Garmin E-Trex hiking GPS which i have clipped on to the bike. I use the GPS for speed readout.
another cheap way would be to mount your smartphone (with GPS) on your bike and you can download an app that acts as a speedometer.

Remember just because it list as the same size on
the side wall does not mean it's the same diameter.
