rear wheel circlip removal was created by Topper
Ok time to help a noob again.

I'm trying to change out my rear wheel bearings and I can't get the stupid circlip out.

It's not siezed or anything. I just can't seem to get it out. I can compress the clip with pliers but if I try to pull up to remove it, the pliers just slip and the clip pops back into place.

Is there a trick to this? A special tool I should use?

Thanks.

Are you using snap ring pliers? :)

I've got some round nose pliers and some 90○ bent long nose pliers. What are snap ring pliers?

Sometimes its still hard to get them out, so I take a pocket screwdriver and when compressed slip behind the clip. Then work it up with the screwdriver. Hope this helps. B)

Well, no surprise, having the right tool makes all the difference. I bought some retaining clip removal pliers from Sears and what I struggled with for half an hour yesterday took about 10 seconds today.

Now on to that pesky stuck wheel bearing...

Thanks for the help guys.
