I am replacing the fork oil of my 79 LTD 1000. Any recommondations on weight and capacity? The manual that I have is for a newer model and states 10W20 and 351cc (however, when drained, only 125cc came out).

I like 30w synthetic motor oil myself,5w30 or anything in that range will work in my experience anyway B)
Around 160cc if youre not disassembling the forks completely seems to be what ma kaw calls for on regular 79 1000
That's for each leg
You might want to measure spring also ,long ones should be 536.5mm with a minimum of 527mm B)

I'm a huge fan of Bel-Ray 15w fork oil. I've been using it for 36 years and it works great. Regarding the amount of fork oil - forget trying to figure out exactly how many CC's of oil to put in because that's not how you measure it. The correct way is to find the specification in the manual that shows the correct oil level. You measure the oil level with the front wheel elevated off the ground and measuring from the top of the fork tube to the top of the oil level. To measure this you can use a thin wooden dowel or similar tool, and you do it with the fork springs in place. Be sure to get the specification for your exact model as they do vary between models. Ed
