The factory Z1R shocks had a spring rate of 1.8 kg/mm for the initial travel (about half way), rising to 3.0 kg/mm for the remaining travel. I believe this works out to 100 lbs/inch, rising to 168 lbs/inch.
I can post a picture of the spring rate graph from the manual if you'd like.
I'm stubbornly holding out, then, for a set of 2-spring shocks like the original ones. I don't care what condition, right now I put a set of Yamaha RD400 shocks on my Z1R because they're the right length and look about the same cosmetically, but with a single (black) spring.
I'm ready for a pair of any-condition Z1R 1978 shocks to appear.
