kz900 rear wheel swap

I know this information has surely been covered here, but I cant find it. After a long hiatus (had to build my daughter a house) I am back working on my 900. Is in parts all over the basement, but I got the cases powdercoated, and getting ready to assemble the motor. Anyway my question is.... I want to use a 16" rear rim. I cant get white letter 18" tires, so I want to convert to 16". I know I can get a 3x16 and relace it, but I really dont want to go that route. and I really dont want to modify the swingarm. So what other options are there?

I included a picture of the cases, after I powdercoated them yesterday. they turned out pretty nice. :woohoo: it took most of the day just to mask them off... Glad thats over.

those are mags. I would like to stay with the spokes. The 650 was 16" does it direct swap?

buy a 16 inch rim and have it laced onto your drum.

I think thats what I will have to do. I relaced this one a few years ago, with stainless spokes, and kind of want to keep it, and just put on another, but thats not looking like an option.

i believe the z650 uses 18 inch rims like the 900. the only ones that may use 16 are the ltd or sr 650's. the 16 inch wheels are a lot cheaper than the 18's in the UK, but i believe the USA guys prefer the smaller rims of the ltd models..

Pick up another hub if you want to keep the 18 inch wheel.
