Just bought a 1980 KZ1000 ex CHP bike, What are the widest tires that I could install on the stock wheels? Currently have 150x70-18 on front and 130x80-18

I am running a stock setup. The swingarm width is about 9 1/4" and a stock set of front forks.

I am running a 19 X 2.75 front rim.

The front tire is a 19 X 100 X 90 and clears the fender by less than a 1/4 inch on both sides of the side wall. I would say this is close to max if not max.

On the rear I am running a 3.50 X 18 rim.

The tire Im running is a 150 X 70 X 18. The tire side wall just clears the chain by less than a 1/4 inch in stock form.

If you wanted to go bigger, you would have to space the rear sprocket and front output sprocket, but could be done....not sure how far you can space but would guess no more than 1/2 inch.

Hope this helps.... ;)
