Side cover tab broke off

I need advice from someone with experience at repairing broke off side cover tabs. :huh:

It needs to be a permanent repair this time; reinforced by adhering it to more of the inside surface of the cover. It has been repaired with two-part epoxy more than one time in the past, which worked ok...but not good enough.
The break is clean and the pieces fit snugly together.

Harbor Freight has a cheap kit for plastic repair, comes with a wide foot soldering Iron, some different plastic filler, and some steel screen for around $15. Works pretty good. The screen melted into the backside of the broken plastic, then covered with some filler, makes for a strong repair. I fixed a bunch of missing and broken stuff on the $260 Concours I picked up, Including one saddle bag. Haven't had one issue yet with any of the repairs.

That sounds like a better repair (versus an epoxy by itself).
The break is in a spot where there wasn't much material holding the tab originally, and no gusset backing it up. I'd like to add a strong gusset behind each tab, but don't want to weaken the material in the process. Those tabs are subject to lots of flex-stress.

Bluej is right The best way is fiberglass cloth and two part resin epoxy it will be much stronger and not flex or crack. Have a good one

i have a plastic welder, reinforce with stainless mesh and melt her back together front and back then repaint.

I took a couple pics of the cover/tab to help explain my objective...The finish is original (and excellent), so I want to avoid anything getting on that side, for fear of damaging it. I would like the fix to be minimal, neat, and stronger than the last...

The last repair (two years ago) had tooth-picked two part epoxy spread along the break edge (both sides), and pressed together until cured. Then a thin layer was spread over the seam (on the back) with hopes it would beef up the repair, and allow a little flex.
The repair held up until a couple days ago when I pulled the cover off in haste. The cured epoxy remains on the tab portion, where it separated from the inside surface, and broke away cleanly.

I imagine it would help the adhesion by roughing up the surface before spreading on more epoxy.

The suggestions of using heat, and/or mesh reinforcement, may be more than needed to fix it well enough to hold for a few more years.

Can anyone identify what the plastic is, and what the best bond material and technique would be to use?
