KZ1000 Brake Upgrades?
21 Dec 2012 20:21 - 21 Dec 2012 20:24
First let me say I try the search option but maybe I was doing it wrong.
I was looking in the possibility of mounting better calipers and master cylinder for the KZ1000.
Any one ever try mounting ZRX1200R 6 piston Calipers on the KZ1000 forks???
If not, is there a direct 4 piston caliper that may be close to a direct bolt on?
I know the master cylinder probably will not be an issue... But I am looking to hear from those that have do it...
Thanks in advance. Luis

Heres a KZ 900 (1976) dual 6 piston, 310mm disc kit that I made. Check my other post as I have made a few big brake kits for the KZ 900. I havent found any drect "bolt on" big brake kits (with out brackets/spacers/etc) for any older forks that I work with.

The pic shows the big brake kit on 1976 KZ 900 front forks. The forks are mounted in a bench vise. Mounting the forks in a vise puts the wheel/fork assembly at an easier level to work on.
Here's a photobucket link with some kits that I have made. There's a few KZ 900 brake kits in there

its doable but not easy better have mag wheels for clearance issues, these are concours 1000 forks but use same mounting points as 650-1000"s

Any advantage with the Concours fork? What year, pre or post 94? Thanks
Wayne[/quote] THE CONCOURS FORKS ARE WAY BEEFIER 41MM VS 36MM THERE ALSO SET WIDER APART SO I HAD ROOM TO SPACE THE ROTORS AWAY FROM THE HUB VERY IMPORTANT WHEN USING SPOKES. HAD TOO SPACE THE SPEEDO DRIVE OUT TOO SO IT WOULD CLEAR. THE FORKS ARE OFF A 86 CONCOURS SO IS THE LOWER TRIPLE TREE
