Kz1100 Grab bar
09 Dec 2012 09:58
Hey, Just lookin' around for some way to get this 83 KZ1100 LTD up on my center stand with out calling my eighteen year old everytime I need to pull it up. I'm seeing a grab bar for a kz1000 that says it will fit 73 - 80 model years on the 1000 and 900 KZs. Any ideas on compatibility from these or any other bikes?

The 1100 Spectre has the same frame as the 83 Ltd-Shaft, so the frame grips are probably interchangeable between the two. Something like a frame grip probably needs to fit perfect, so I'd be careful about getting one from any other models. Sellers often times say a part will fit a range of bikes without really knowing what they're talking about. I looked at various bikes at PowerSportsPlus.com and the Spectre & yours are the only grips that look the same.

19 Dec 2012 12:55 - 19 Dec 2012 12:58A successful method with KZ900B1 LTD that might also help in this instance.nivlac wrote: Hey, Just lookin' around for some way to get this 83 KZ1100 LTD up on my center stand with out calling my eighteen year old everytime I need to pull it up....
Z1 center stand works just fine when using the normal lift-and-rock-back procedure to lift the Z1 onto the center stand.
KZ900-B1 LTD didn't come with a center stand.
With the Z1's center stand fitted on the KZ900-B1 LTD, Godzilla was needed to lift the LTD onto the center stand.
PROBLEM SOLVED --
Roll the rear wheel onto a piece of wood before pulling the bike up onto the center stand.
I use a short piece of 2x12 with a beveled edge to help the rear wheel more easily roll up onto the piece of wood.
With this method, an infant can do it with a pinky finger. :woohoo:
Am thinking that most large Kaws, when on center stand, have the rear tire off the floor.
Some higher than others.
The best thickness for the wood piece in a particular application is the thickness that will slide beneath the rear tire when the bike is up on the center stand.
It isn't necessary that the rear tire actually be resting on the wood.
Good Fortune!

I found out that rolling the rear wheel on any piece of 2x6 laying on it's side does the trick...
Otherwise you can pull a muscle, or need a second person...
