KZ 650 Part Compatibilities

Can anyone tell me if the '77 KZ 650 parts (specifically disc brake calipers and rotars) are inter-changable with other late '70s models?

After you find the diagrams at the Kawasaki site, just click stuff - part numbers, icons, diagram reference numbers, etc... fiddle around w it & you'll find the cross-ref. I have to turn off my browser's popup blocker to use the site.

Something of note is that single Fr brake disks are typically larger in diameter than on dual disk models, so the single disk calipers are higher up on the forks. Just something to keep in mind when trying to figure out if an alternative disk will work.

Uh, no, not on the KZ's. All dual disk KZ models use the same diameter disk as the same model single disk, the single disks are just thicker.

All the calipers from 650-1100 will bolt on, but 650 disks are smaller diameter than 750-1100 four bolt disks. I think all 650 disks are the same diameter, but I'm not 100% certain.

However, the point remains that he should check the diameter prior to purchase. I'm pretty sure the disks on the 750-4s are smaller than the 650CSR.

No, I'm talking seventies models since the OP has a 77. The 750 fours have a big hole in the middle because the mount is different. don't the 80's 650 models still use the 4 bolt disks?
I know the 80 KZ650F I had did.

The 79 KZ650SR had a wider front wheel than any other 650, 2.15 rim width versus 1.85 on the rest. Don't know if the hub is wider cause I never measured it. The 81 650 changed quite a bit, but I don't know if they changed the brakes.

I just checked kawasaki.com and the 81-82 KZ650CSR (H) uses the four bolt disk, and I'd be surprised if it was a different size. They also have the holes in the hub for dual disks.

It also says the 650 E and F use the same disks as the 750G and several 1000s, so that means the E and F models have a larger disk than any 70s 650. The 750G disk bolts right on the 750B, but it is a drilled disk so has a different part number even though it's the same size.

I have a stack of brake disks about 24" high that are from various Kawasaki models, 650, 750 four and twin, GPz750 and KZ1000s.
