FRONT END KZ200
08 Nov 2012 21:22
I Have a vague question, I just need a little direction. I Have a KZ200 that is missing the front brake caliper. The part is real hard to find so I am just going to replace the front end. I want to be able to use the original spoked wheel and disc. how would I go about doing that?
thanks in advance

Have you checked the front end on a kz400 to see if its close?
Post a picture of your existing front end ,maybe we can get some ideas

Well I did some searching of the kz200 gallery and the kz400 gallery and they sure do look like the same front end to me dimensionally wise anyway,so atleast that gives you an other avenue to search for parts to do a complete front end swap

In this picture, there seems to be a front brake caliper, and an upper brake hose, but perhaps the front master cylinder reservoir is missing.jhart26 wrote:Attachment 1977kz200kawasakimotorcycle032812.jpg not found

Yeah I noticed that also, but since there seems to be a lot more 400s out there than 200s I figure it would be easier to find a matched set of parts that way.
If the upper tubes are same diameter he might even be able to keep the kz200 triple trees since they fit the frame and just change everything else from there down and the master cylinder

The kz200 used a mechanical caliper with a normal cable-type brake-lever. No hydraulics.
I liked it.
It worked surprisingly well when properly maintained, and no fluid messes. It performed better than a drum, better feel etc, and was about as reliable.
