What are the stock sprocket sizes for a 79 kz 1000 b3. I have 15-35 on now. I want to drop 1 tooth from stock on the front. Also what are the advantages or disadvantages of changing to a 530 chain.

Hi Cjcrug,

I'm thinking 15 / 33 was stock for your bike (off the top of my head). I did a 530 conversion on my bike, the reason was for less chain weight, better availability of offset drive sprockets (for us running bigger rear tires/swing arms) wider selection of availability & colors.

One thing I discovered is, there is very little difference in chain width. In some cases a 530 (o-ring) pin will be slightly wider than a 630 (non o-ring) pin. I thought (assumed) I would gain a small amount of frame clearance going with a 530 o-ring but was wrong.

Assuming your stock gearing is 15 / 33, and you want to do a 530 conversion you will need to run a 530 18 / 47 sprocket set up.

Welcome to the board,

Cheers, Doug
