1980 kz1000g /z1 classic frame was created by wireman
Is there any differance between a g series frame and a regular MKII frame?
I picked one up today while wheeling/dealing on a Z1R and was just wondering if theres anything special about it. B)

I'd ask Jeff Saunders, he seems to know a lot about these old Kawasaki's.

Does the "G" model still have the injectors and other FI stuff, or has someone converted it to carbs?

Its just a chassis without motor or bodywork B)
I new it wasnt an ltd frame by the rear hoop behind shocks, but the rear peg brackets looked weird so I thought it was a MKII then I started thinking Z1 classic.
Then I saw the G in the serial number B)

G is different, closer to an 81 LTD/CSR then a KZ. No place to mount a rear tail section at all on that frame. The only thing close to a MKII is a Z1R or a shaft drive frame.

Info at kawasaki.com confirms that the 1980 Z1 Classic KZ1000-G has its own unique frame, not shared with any other model.

Here's the frame as shown in the parts diagram.

Wondering what's so different about it?

I'd agree with Roy: I have found that with my "G" model that LOTS of things are different. The rear loop on the frame, the tank, the spacing on the head mounting points for the carb boots (PO took off the FI), the rear wheel size, etc. The 18" police model wheel I installed fit, but the spacers, disc offset, caliper offset, and brake torque arm were different and needed to be carried over from the police model. But, I am learning a lot! :)

I have a g model and things r different. The seat is longer than an ltd,I don't have the fuelie head(po took it and the fi off),the rear hoop doesn't have the extension or the frame mounts for the tail. Mine has 16 ltd wheel on it. Some things interchangewhile other pieces don't. Other than head, its a stock 1000 bottom end. I think its a MkII bottom end. according to jim at Redline cycle in Chitown, somethings interchange with 80 b model frame. I inquired awhile back.
Hope this helps some.
