Rear rim , rim locks??? was created by Mgwood80
I recently had a new tire put on the rear of my 76kz400, and anx the tube blew out of it, and the tire place that put it on told me that i had no rim locks and there was no lip on the rim either im kinda of new to this. So what can i do add the rim locks and it should be good??

Did it cut the valve stem off?
Rimlocks are to keep tire from spinning on the rim, unless youre running 10lbs of air in that rear tire and doing burn outs with it I cant see any good reason to run them.

I don't see where the 400 came with rim locks on the fiche. Do you have another hole in the rim, same dia as the valve stem? Thats where the lock would fit. Otherwise probably just low pressure, then the tire slips. Either not full enough or a leak/ pinched tube.

I use them on my KZ650. I did not have them on my BSA and the valve stem was ripped from the tube in traffic. Very scary! So I'm a believer whether I actually need them or not. :) On the BSA I ended up drilling about a dozen holes on each side of the rim and using screws through the rim into the tire bead to prevent slippage (old racer trick). Just be sure the screws aren't too long! :woohoo:
