match engine swap to frame

I've got a '97 kzp 1000, police bike, and am wondering if the 1200cc engine from the zrx would fit into the '97 frame.
Any ideas out there ?

Most late model water cooled engines will not fit KZ frames. The bore spacing is much closer together on newer motors and most have cam chains on the side and not the middle. Problem is on your kz frame your exhaust splits between the down tubes of the frame, a late model motor will have all 4 pipes coming out much closer and the 1 and 4 cylinder will be coming out right into you frame.

The 998 cc engine is fine, with only 18K on it, but I had a chance to pick up a wrecked ZRX w/a good 1200cc engine; so one thought led to another...

Use ZZR1200 pistons and cams for even more power in the ZRX1200 motor. :)

I can take some measurements off my ZRX if you need them. Other than down tube spacing which may or may not be and issue, personally I would not thik it was much of a hurdle to get that motor in there. All depends on your ability (or willingness to try!) and the tools at your disposal.
