Where to get old school spokes...
02 Aug 2012 00:16
I know they are out there I google pics of old kaws and I see them, but who makes the nice looking chrome spokes for old bikes. I have mags on my 83 kaw750 ltd shaft right now. Thinking of polishing them, anyone done that? Is it possible??

If I cant find some good looking spokes I suppose I may try to polish the mags... I dont think they are actual magnesium, wonder if theyre aluminum. If so Ill give it a try in the autumn when I overhaul the motor

You want Buchanan's, I believe.

Edit: But with a shaft rear...not sure if you can find a spoke rear hub for that bike. Better off going chain, many more options.

Buchanan's is the place
I am in the process of getting a wheel from brian and stopped by
Cycle Steve's (a local bike shop) get a price on good quality chrome spokes and having the wheel laced he quotesd me 60.00 bucks for lacing and basically told me Buchanan's is who he uses and to call them they have several options depending on wheel so I looked em up online and then called them
sales guy was really helpful told me what I needed before i got it all out as soon as I said 78 KZ1000 19 didnt even get inch out he was telling 40 spoke stainless or chrome and quoting the price
(I really get excited when i Say 78 KZ and the guy knows what it is) lol unlike most companies that dont specialize in em) I am opting for Stainless

Buchanan's is the place for spokes. They custom made some stainless steel spokes for my bike. The original spokes were dull and rusty. Had a local shop lace and true them.
Buchanan's aren't cheap (I believe it was $155 per wheel for the custom made), but am very happy with them.
